Tips for success and Pitfalls to Avoid (cont.)

  • 9) When publishing in a Foreign Market OR selling books in a Foreign country, get a reputable lawyer well versed in International Patent Law. Copyright laws are very complicated. Every country has their own laws concerning publishing of works. It's worth it as it'll save you $$$ in the long run!

  • 10) Future Link to a website specializing in getting the truth out where Writers are concerned - especially legal matters.

  • Groklaw supporter Gets the truth out about questionable business practices. Well worth it, even if it is FOSS based. Besides, board members often are on other boards and do help make questionable decisions and could be involved in cover-ups.
  • Have I published? Not yet, but am working on my autobiography which will be part Self-Help book, part Sociology, and part Reality. I'm very good at learning from other's mistakes and have done intense and exhausting research. I have not finished doing this in other languages, which should net even more valuable information, especially when publishing in international markets. Currently, I am working on my German, so I can research German websites. Given the French government's distaste for Religion and non-French cultures, I'd hesitate to publish anything in France. Sell? Sure! Of course, but I'd rather deal with a government who doesn't discriminate. I'd also not publish in China for the same reasons. However, the Chinese might not have much choice.

Being that most of the world learns British English, I've decided to attempt to use British English here. However, I shall translate into American English that which would cause undue difficulty to the American Speaker. A UK - US English glossary will be made for any game needing it, so that spelling won't be an issue.
